Baines College Consulting began as a part-time charitable service offered to students who wanted professional guidance when applying for colleges and accessing funds to help pay for it. Donna Baines, Founder, spent 10 years working as a Corporate Director in college admissions with juniors and seniors in High School before going independent in 2014. Her background as Regional Admissions Director helped in creating and training motivational seminars that would encourage students to complete high school and continue their education. She hired and trained admissions representatives in markets such as Philadelphia, Newark, Trenton, Houston, Dallas, Birmingham, Montgomery, and Akron. In addition to working with individual students, Baines College Consulting partners with local school districts, non-profit organizations, and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to offer complete college and career planning services.
Kori Hutton attended HBCU, Hampton University, and is a proud and bold advocate for students to attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities. She not only has the first-hand experience with being a student and product of an HBCU; she also has taken her eldest daughter, Mykah, through the process as she prepared to attend North Carolina Central University.
“Historically Black Colleges and Universities were created during a time when African American students were not allowed to attend school with our Caucasian brothers and sisters. That is no longer our story. We now experience the privilege of being able to attend a university that not only provides us with an excellent education, but allows us to honor the legacy, struggle, and bold examples that our ancestors have left us. I am excited to expand the minds of our youth and to show them the options that are available to them. Education is a beautiful thing, but an HBCU education is not just beautiful. It’s excellence, It’s family, It’s tradition, it’s culture, it’s just….different.”
